Introduction:

Ting Shang is a newly opened Chinese Restaurant in 2015 that focuses solely on authentic Chinese cuisine with the aim to introduce a new dining culture to Nanaimo, BC. We strive to bring the best Chinese Cuisine to our guests with our 20 year experienced chef from China and feature a new concept of Chinese food contrary to westernized Chinese food.

We have been to the Ting Shang five or six times now. It grows on you for sure. This is the best chinese food in Nanaimo but dont go there if you are looking for Canadian chinese food! The spicy lamb with cumin is incredible. The pork belly is very good and almost everything we have tried to date is top notch. The prices are good and there is lots of parking. Well worth checking out

Food is good...more a chinese Taiwanese quicine. We order 5 items and all turn up good. Recommended...

The only real choice if you want great Szechuan food. The Ma Po Tofu is phenomenal and the pork belly in pickled vegetable broth is unlike anything I've ever had.

Wonton soup one of the best Ive had in a long time. I highly recommend this place to any one wanting authentic chinese cuisi ne at a decent price.

A friend and I decided to enter Ting Shang Restaurant to experience real Chinese Food. Well, we looked over the menu and these three young friends have opened up a taste of China without leaving our country. From Jelly Fish to Fish heads to Cumin Lamb, the items on the menu were not typical of North American Chinese Restaurants and looking around at the young Asian crowd eating in this restaurant was a good sign to me that the food was authentic and good.
We ordered our Sweet & Sour Pork which had a tangy sauce and we ordered Cumin Lamb which was fried slices of lamb with hints of cumin, we also ordered steamed rice as we were not that adventurous but we will return to try the jelly fish next time around.
The prices were very fair for the items you receive and the portion sizes were quite generous and offered both quality and portion size to be more than what you paid for. The service was friendly but needs more professionalism, it seems they've focussed their attention on food and quality rather than service too.
The servers did try but without a liquor licence, we were unable to try a cocktail with our dinner and the servers seemed that they were working all over and were unsure who was actually serving us...they did try though and that's all one can ask.

Ting Shang has an amazing assortment of dishes that are both authentic, luxurious and delicious! The dishes we got were both pleasing for the eye and the mouth! Will definitely come here again! A must go to for everyone in Nanaimo!

Best soup I've had besides homemade ! Way more than the usual 8 wontons, pork, broccoli and tastiest broth !

We had been told by friends that there were no good places to eat in Nanaimo, actually. Well we were hungry having just arrived from our 2 hour trip from Vancouver. Not being too mobile we were able to park close by the restaurant. It is new and the decor is modern, comfortable and bright! We like spicy food so we ordered a spicy chicken dish along with bok choy. It was delicious. If you like asian food and are in Nanaimo, eat here!
