Asian food industry has undergone over 150 years in North America from the “chop suey” brought by Li Hongzhang during his visit to America to “General Tso’s Chicken” deeply favored by foreigners, and Canton cuisine dominating Chinese Town to the omnipresent American Chinese foods. However, Asian food industry seems to be developing vigorously and prosperous in surface at present. In fact, it has displayed uneven development and rather mixed and disorder pattern, which has directly led to great prejudice and discrimination among many media and customers. The first impression on them is Asian food is insanitary and unhealthy food when it comes to Asian food.
How to change the ideas about asian food among local media and customers? What kind of asian food restaurant is a really good one in the whole America/Canada? It brooks no delay to solve such problems.
Thus we Asia Star TV has jointly held a large-scaled election event for Asian foods, i.e. the Best Asian Food in USA/Canada(舌尖上的加拿大/美国), together with many renowned media in North America.
Purpose:
Build up the image and brand of the best Asian food through appraisal and election, and enable local customers and medias to have a better understanding of Asian food, recognize and love Asian food, and improve the quality and position of the whole Asian food industry in the end.
The event will be carried out under the principle of “fair, just and open”, and the size, decoration, year of service of the restaurant, and the professional background of the cooks will not be taken as the election standards. The most popular Asian food will be elected through trial tasting by experts, voting by customers, media remarks, and collection of information on the food evaluate site.
Election Rules:
Trial tasting by experts: Food experts will be arranged to have trial tasting of the foods in the restaurant anonymously during the event.（40%）
Voting by customers: The customers may log onto the official website of the event, i.e.www.asiastar-tv.com, to vote for their favorite Asian foods. (20%)
Media remarks: Inform the local media and catering institutions through email or mail to invite them to remark on and give marks on the restaurants. (20%)

Services for Activity:
1.Anonymous Foretaste by Professionals
During the activity, gastronomes will be invited to the restaurant for anonymous foretaste. They will assess the service, hygiene and taste of dishes in the restaurant, and write a report to send to the restaurant.

For The western mainstream society and media focus to understand more about this activity, the committee will make a large scale restaurant documentary called “the Best Asian Food in USA”. All the award winning restaurants will have the opportunity to show the specialties of their restaurants. The winning restaurants will provide a video of how to cook their signature dishes and the committee will make, in a vivid and narrative method, a small documentary about the specialties of those restaurants. As such the customers can truthfully feel the richness and profoundness of Chinese food.
