Located in the Dun Huang Plaza in Chinatown, close to all the boba/ dessert places with plenty of parking in the open parking lot and the 2 garages. This place has been my favorite Sichuan style restaurant for years. Exactly how you would imagine a classic no BS mom and pop Chinese restaurant would be, traditional Chinese style interior, friendly but basic level service, complementary Chinese hot tea, and owners kids hanging out in the back. Now the food... somehow this place always hit the spot and reminds me of China. Unlike a lot of the Sichuan restaurants in Houston with fancy plates and fusion twist, this place taste like someone from Sichuan is in the back doing all the cooking for you. Couple of my "must order" each time:
Hot and Sour rice noodle -- this is my favorite and my reason to be back at least once a month, no other restaurants in Houston can match the taste
Lamb with cumin - the lamb is tender, great flavor with just right level of spicy if you like the cumin taste
Stewed Chicken Shank - this is a cold dish, boiled chicken in spicy sauce and chili oil
I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to try authentic Sichuan food!
Houston is sleeping on this place. The simple names Spicy Sichuan Chicken is one of the best things I've ever eaten. The Sichuan peppercorn spice was pure finesse on their tender chicken. (I never thought I would describe a chunk of chicken as "tender" outside of calling it chicken tenders. This is NOT a chicken tender.)
Their breakfast...youtao, soup dumplings, fried bao are amazing. My daughter wants to come every day for breakfast. Which is saying a lot because the only thing shes ever wanted to eat before are chicken nuggets, haha.
The staff are also so friendly and sweet!
Our go to spot for authentic Chinese cuisine every time we're in Houston. We come specifically for the szechuan spicy beef fried noodles. Abundant portions and well balanced. Noodles are so light and fresh. Scallion pancake was also delicious. It's thick and piping hot fresh from the kitchen. Service is quick and place gives a comforting ambiance.
I would not recommend ordering 3 different items that were ALL spicy but we did and it was delicious. The only thing is our tongues are tingling .
I would recommend this place as all items we ordered were delicious. The service was great. Food came out quickly. Crispy Fried Szechuan Chicken 4.5/5. Spicy Beef Noodles 5/5. Szechuan Dumplings 4/5
the steam bao is delicious & their eggplant with garlic is super delicious as wellll! the staff are super friendly and will recognize a regular customer!
This is my husband and my third time eating here. The first time, we had a bit of a problem communicating our order with a couple of extra requests.
This time, we brought a couple who spoke Cantonese AND Mandarin and had no problem asking questions about the dishes and ordering!
The food was of generous portions and very good. The spicy fish soup was delicious and the fish was tender. Can't go wrong with spicy ground beef over noodles and sauce topped with crushed peanuts (aka Dan Dan Noodles).
The shrimp were a good size and plentiful under the cover of crispy rice cakes. The Special Noodles were wide and flat with a good bite and a nice variety of vegetables.
We will be back!
Excellent service and pretty extensive menu. Speedy and delicious. I got the green beans, fish and the beef noodle soup.
This is the place to go for authentic Chinese noodles. My favorite dish is the beef noodles served with Bokchoy. In China, you can eat these type of noodles everywhere
I was greeted warm and welcomely. The food was made amazingly. I had the seafood noodles with shrimp chicken and beef. And it were delicious and savory
REAL DELICIOUS SICHUAN! I hit them all up and this one is truly authentic and VERY AFFORDABLE!
I can not wait to come back! Loved the Cucumber Salad, the Black Mushroom Salad and the Hot and Sour clear noodles pot! They served it quickly as well and the service was great!
I recently came back & wow their food improved and it's more spicy!
