This restaurant was recommended by a professional chef and it was very delicious. If you like spicy food this is the place to be. Please note that Hunan is a very different region in China, you shouldn't expect the typical Chinese food. (In general Hunan cuisine is hotter than Sichuan cuisine, but Sichuan spices have the numbing effect.)
I don't have the dishes names but see photos attached. Loved how they served the cabbage with pork in a sizzling wok. The second dish was their version of sweet & sour pork, it kind of reminds me of Shanghai style.
This restaurant isn't about looks or decor, but seating is comfortable, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
It's July 18, a few days after my review. I read a few other random reviews and I feel like I need to speak up.
Please take a look at the map before you write something, China is big and it has a lot to offer. If you want fresh seafood you should do your research before going to any Chinese restaurants. Not all Chinese restaurants serve fresh seafood because not every region is by the coast. If you don't like what the restaurant is serving, it's not their fault. Maybe it's time you do your research and understand how complex Chinese cuisine is. If you're so lazy to read about the diversity you should watch a few Netflix shows and educate yourself. I'm not getting paid to write any reviews but I feel like a lot of people out there need to rethink what they post.
We came here on our first night with Vegas. We are very hungry and wanted to have dinner at a reasonable price not on the strip where it would be over $100 for a family of five. We found this Chinese restaurant on Google and went inside. It was empty but there were some patrons eating there so we thought that was a good sign we ordered and enjoyed it very much. The service was very fast and nice. Would highly recommend if you like Chinese food and want to stay on a budget off the strip.
I loved all the food I ordered: Dongting fried rice, pickled beans with grind pork, Dongting stir fry pork. They were so hot and so flavorful. It is rare to find an authentic Chinese restaurant specializing in the xiang cuisine. I was very happy I found this place during our trip in Vegas
We came here for the duo jiao fish head but they were out so we ordered the whole fish instead and it was so good we took the left over juice home!! We also had braised farmed chicken, salted pork with stem of a-choi, and saut¨¦ed string beans. We went around 230 pm and the place was empty. The food and service were GREAT! We will be back!
This is my favorite hunan restaurant in Vegas thus far. I'm vegan and there were many non meat options available. The spice level is perfect and not too overpowering. The service is great as well. Thus place is definitely better in a group so you can sample many dishes.
Excellent Chinese food run by Chinese nationals from mainland China. Excellent sliced potato with vinegar and ong choy with garlic. My wife is chinese is a chinese national and we came here two days in a row. We live in Los Angeles and this restaurant is as good as any for authentic Chinese food.
This is my second time visiting Dong Ting Spring and its slowly becoming my go to place for take away Chinese. The food is excellent quality with good portion sizes. Items I have ordered and love thus far:
1. Ma's spicy chicken
2. Lamb cumin
3. Lamb with wild peppers
4. Spicy chicken
5. Dong Ting Spring Fried rice
6. Yang Chow Fried rice
My only issue, do not pay online before pick up- they seem to have a only one person that knows how to see whether it is confirmed or not. Better pay in person to avoid an unnecessary sometimes difficult conversation. Very friendly staff!!
I stumbled upon this restaurant when driving around Vegas. The location is very convenient, close to downtown Las Vegas. The foods here are just delicious! All the recommended dishes are very tasty and affordable. I'm from LA where there are numerous great Chinese restaurants. Dong Ting Spring is the best I've had in Vegas and good even comparing to the Chinese restaurants in LA. Strongly recommend this place.
I love this place. This is my always go to place when I want some real Chinese food. The price of this place is much more reasonable than other places in town.

This is really a surprise. Food is so good. I am from China, Hunan province. This food is just so authentic. I am feeling like I am in my hometown now. Feeling great! Eat too much! Price is reasonable!

we just ate dinner here today. The restaurant is a real Chinese restaurant, not a American Chinese restaurant. The taste is close to traditional human food in Changsha city. As human guys, we are happy to eat this kind of food in Las Vegas. We cannot find this kind of human style Chinese restaurant in Seattle, maybe in Vancouver BC. We like it
Great place, hole in the wall off the strip but great price for portions and the worth the trip.
I went here with my girlfriend who is from Hunan region and she said this place was just like home. We asked for it extra spicy and they nailed it. They added a ton of fresh peppers and they were perfectly roasted from the wok. I hate when places use dried chillies.
We got the wild mushroom and lamb with chilies, both where really good, my favorite was the lamb. But a little greasy by the time you got the the bottom of the plate.
The server was really nice to us. Not like the pushy servers of most Chinese restaurants.
I feel bad this place was dead for lunch. I hate to see place with great food not busy.
Stopped by today after working with 5 other friends, I must say I had a great meal! This is so far the best Hunan food in town :)
Surprised how flavorful the food was. The menu is unique so don't expect pot stickers and general tau chicken, but all of the 5 dishes I chose were outstanding. It's now my go to place for Chineese food in Las Vegas.
Stumbled onto this gem of a restaurant after the wait at Jinya Ramen Bar. This restaurant was in the same shopping center. An excellent local Hunan style with friendly local servers. This restaurant was quiet compared to Jinya Ramen but the food was excellent (just for reference, grew up in SoCal, familiar with NorCal, live in NYC). A quick 5-10 min drive from the strip and probably on par with some of the best Hunan style restaurants I've ever had. I would definitely recommend this place to others and would definitely come back.
Tucked into a dead strip mall off of Decatur, just far enough from the Chinatown strip to be both convenient and inconvenient at the same time, they are serving up awesome Hunan food here.
You want spicy? Hello sweaty time. Authentic dishes, very reasonable prices, and really friendly people.
I really hope this location works for them, because it's never that busy in here. They are just far enough away from the hustle of Chinatown that they'll miss out on some business, but at the same time, it's quite obvious that everyone in here knows each other, and the wait staff is sure to recognize you if you are a repeat customer, which you should be.
All dishes I've had here are great, from lamb dry pot, to mushroom/pork, and boiled beef/tofu dishes. All cheap, and large quantity.
It's a cozy place in a good way, nice decor, and they do take away orders, which is alway good.
