西安面 XiAn Noodle

1039 E Valley Blvd STE B102, San Gabriel, CA 91776

Reviews:

This place is excellent! I feel like it's a very low-key spot and the plaza itself doesn't seem to have much going on AFAIK.

Ordered the Xian Biang Biang, Eggplant and fried intestines.

Everything was so flavorful. The intestines were crispy and had the classic Sichuan numbing taste to it. The noodles in the Biang Biang were cooked well; wide and chewy.

XiAn Biang Biang Noodles is conveniently located in San Gabriel's Goldworld Plaza. As you enter the plaza, you'll find it on the building to the left side on the first floor. This place specializes in Xi'an cuisine, bringing the flavors of the large city and capital of Shaanxi Province in central China right to your plate.

Food & Flavors:
The food here is incredibly authentic, reminding me of the flavors I experienced in China. Here's what I tried:

1) Liang Pi (Cold Noodles with Chili Oil) - $7.99: These starch-based noodles are a rare-find on menus and a personal favorite. The noodles had a delightful chew, and the sauce was intensely spicy with a nice black vinegar taste. It came with a protein that looked like seitan (wheat gluten) and cucumber. Be sure to inform the server if you can't handle high spice levels - my mouth was on fire!

2) Biang Biang Style Noodles with 2 Toppings and Pepper Oil (#33 on the menu) - $12.99: These famous, wide, thick, hand-pulled noodles from Xi'an were spectacular. My dish included tomato & egg, minced meat, and bok choy. The noodles had a different texture from the Liang Pi, as they are wheat-based and incredibly long. The flavors were amazing and not too spicy.

Service & Ambiance:
The service was friendly and quick. Initially, I felt a bit intimidated as the staff spoke to me in Mandarin, but this is a non-Chinese speaking friendly place. The staff speaks English, and the menu is translated into English, making it accessible to everyone.

The restaurant itself has a cozy ambiance, with many tables and decorations that evoke central China. Surprisingly, it wasn't busy at all when I visited - only two other dine-in parties were there, while most people were picking up take-out orders (wai mai).

Overall Experience:
XiAn Biang Biang Noodles offers a delightful and authentic taste of Xi'an cuisine. The flavors are spot-on, the service is warm, and the ambiance is inviting. Whether you're dining in or picking up, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I recently stumbled upon XiAn Biang Biang Noodles (or as the sign reads, Xian Noodles) in a plaza with a bit of Hollywood trivia-- it's the very spot where they filmed the final fight scene of The Brother's Sun! But let's dive into the food because that's where the real action happens.

We kicked things off with the Three Topping Spicy Noodle, and it was a revelation. These noodles are the star of the show--thick, long strands that are freshly made and cooked to perfection. They had just the right bite and a chewiness that you don't find in your average noodle dish. The pepper oil added a satisfying kick.

We also tried the Qinshan Style Noodle Soup, which was a comforting, hearty bowl of goodness.

The place is very authentic chinese but be warned...the staff's English is not the greatest.

Extraordinarily delicious spiced eggplant! Quick friendly attentive service. So grateful to the dragonfly that validated my arrival!

Still easily the best biang biang wide noodle spot. Super unassuming restaurant with a quiet setting. They do seem to get a lot of take out. The texture of the noodles here are fantastic. The numbing nice is just enough to feel the burn but not so much that you can't taste the food.

The parking is super abundant and there's a coconut dessert spot across the plaza to cool off your palate after!

Big portion with great tasty! I had stir fried handmade noodle with cumin beef yesterday and came back today to have their three toppings noodle!
Best Shanxi food in USA! Highly recommended!

My quest to find the best biang biang wide and chewy noodles is now completed!
As you walk in it seems the furniture is very outdated, but I think it's because they want you to turn back once upon a time in Xian. The portions are massive. If you are really hungry, you probably can finish the whole bowl. The 3 of us each ordered the 3 Flavors noodles without chili in our broken Mandarin. Since we also added the appetizer plate of cucumber salad and shredded potato (also massive size!) I can only eat about 1/3 of my noodles. The sauce is a bit salty but it's really flavorful. Every bite was delicious! Looking forward to coming back and trying other menu items. Our waitress was sincere even though our Mandarin was terrible. She even helped us pack up our leftovers.

Top notch Biang Biang Noodles and Chinese Hamburgers! Xian Biang Biang Noodle should be on every Chinese food lover's radar. This place is the real deal. Came here on Memorial Day around 1:15pm and had a great experience. Service was quick and the food was delicious. While the ambiance isn't much, the quality of their dishes is what will bring me back. Go ahead and give this restaurant a try! You will not be disappointed.

A great spot for Xi'an cuisine for not only great food, but also very quick and friendly service and reasonable prices. We were in and out in 30 minutes.

We got the Biang Biang noodles and the Lamb Burger, both of which are staples of Xi'an so naturally, they're some of the bestsellers. The lamb burger really amazed me with its bold, spicy flavors from the pepper and cumin, and the meat was really juicy. The Biang Biang noodles were not the chewiest hand pulled noodles I've had, but still very fresh. I liked the acidic taste from the vinegar, combined with the spices. The spice level is a bit on the lower side but they have chili on the side that you can add if you want to enhance it.

While the food is great, I do think this place can be intimidating for non-native Chinese speakers as the staff doesn't really speak English. The menu isn't very descriptive about what each dish is, so it can be feel like taking a big risk if you're not really sure what to get.

Possibly the best Biang Biang noodle spot in LA?!?

Came on a Friday night and there was a steady stream of customers. We had the da pan Ji (small size), 3 topping Biang Biang noodles, and stir fried green beans. All of it was amazing!!

The noodle texture was deliciously QQ and perfec thickness. Toppings were flavorful without being too oily. The da pan ji noodle was a bit different, being quite fragrant (and spicy) from the Sichuan peppercorns and mala spice. Huge portion even for the small.

I will definitely be returning here and can't recommend it more if you are in the mood for an amazing noodle meal.

Came here with a big group and we ordered so much food! Super nice, welcoming staff and delicious regional cuisine makes this a great place to eat.

Was so impressed by this spot that I came here three days in a row. We walked in and were immediately seated each time. It seemed like the servers mainly spoke Chinese, but we were still able to communicate and they were nice. The food here is so good. I love spicy food and the braised beef noodle had me sweating. Got the xian Biang Biang noodles with no meat. Such great flavor. Also ordered their vegetable fried rice and beef fried rice. Nice strong sesame flavor. I even ordered delivery and the noodles still came out perfect. I always worry that my noodles were overcook, but not this time!

5 STARS FOR THESE NOODLES!!!!!!

Thick, chewy, perfectly cooked. Amazing sauce and the toppings are all so delicious. You must order this.

Cucumber salad (4.5/5): so good with the right amount of salt and a generous amount of garlic

Pork hamburger (4/5): very interesting. This is basically just meat and bread. The pork was very salty. I liked the "bun" - it was thin but still chewy and had some body to it

Small newish (as of late '23) cafe located in a strip mall. I came on a weeknight and it wasn't super busy/ crowded. The vibe was pretty chill when I walked in and was greeted by really friendly people while getting seated right away. This place came on my radar from a post on IG I think and the noodles looked amazing and wanted to grab some on my way home from work.

There was a little bit of a language barrier, but it wasn't a problem because there was also QR code ordering/ paying, etc. Also, friendliness is universal, so there's that.

I ordered the #33 or Three Toppings Spicy Noodle with Pepper Oil (biang biang noodles). I think this is their specialty. Not sure if I'm using this term correctly, but the QQ was on point! The noodles were super thick and chewy. Just a joy to eat with all the toppings and that touch of spice. So much flavor from a bowl of noodles.

Overall, just a great place to get noodles at a more than reasonable price. Definitely would love to come back and a great addition to a sea of wonderful options in the area.

Stopped by for a quick bite and it was very good. The lamb noodles were excellent. The braised eggplant was very good, but I wish it was a bit more garlicky. Overall a very good meal. Good service as well.

This place is in a big mall with a lot of parking. It's very authentic and a good place to go w family!

2 topping biang Biang noodle ($12.99) - delicious! The noodles were thick and so QQ, huge portion size. It had a nice sour acidity with really good pork belly as well. Good Biang Biang noodle in the area!

I love the cold noodle dish from xi an area and cannot believe I finally found an authentic place! The owners are from
That area the noodles were delicious authentic affordable and the place is clean. Other dishes were so good too!'ill be back often.

Great place for authentic Chinese food.
This place is located in a strip mall with ample parking. We went at 3pm so there weren't many people and our server was able to give us a lot of attention. She did not speak English very well but was prompt with getting us our drinks and food. I specifically came from west LA for the lamb noodles and they were delicious as expected. I can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu.

Stopped by here by chance- it was one of the only Asian restaurants that open early.
We were the only ones in which I love. The food was fast and fresh, I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup. My husband got the beef fried rice and beef ribs.
I absolutely loved my husbands fried rice, im usually not a fried rice person- as most of them are way to greasy and salty. But not this place, it was so light yet favorable.
The noodles were good too, you'd think it would be super oily and salty but it was not at all.
Service was great, they didn't bother you at unnecessary times at all.
Restaurant was clean, very homey. Would recommend, and def would come back!

Happy to discover this hidden gem and hope to be back! In an area well-known for Chinese food, Xi An Biang Biang Noodles lives up to the hype. Their head chef is from a well-known region in China. All the noodles are fresh-pulled. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor! You probably can’t go wrong with the menu. Split family style, it was a deliciously filling and decently priced meal. Staff is friendly and service is excellent. Highly recommend.

油泼三样非常好吃,面很劲道,分量也足,甑糕非常正宗,软糯香甜!没想到在这里能吃到正宗的西安美食,很满意,服务态度也好,环境也不错,值得推荐一下。

Food is awesome and it’s not crowded. The portions are huge and each dish has a distinct taste.

This is authentic and a real departure from your Americanized Chinese food.

Plenty of parking… and don’t forget to look up. The wall with a calligraphy scroll is a famous poem from none other Chairman Mao. Gotta love this place.

The Xian beef noodle tastes wonderful and is good portion size for the price! Staff is friendly as well and lots of parking. Will definitely be back!

Authentic Xi’an food, especially their house special Biang Biang noodles, which are handmade and extremely tasty. There are also a variety of stir fry dishes to choose from.

Read about this place in the paper. Bae and I are always saying things like "we should explore the culinary delights of the sgv" but are often intimidated because we don't speak Chinese and have little familiarity with the cuisine beyond the white people Chinese restaurants of our respective coasts (she east, me west).  We ordered from the internet even though we were there because we had our dog with us.  The noodles were extremely, extremely good, the other ingredients (beef, chicken, veggies) were pretty standard.  If i was to return I just get noodles straight up, I feel like the other stuff just distracts from the main event.  Bae couldn't eat hers because she comes from a place (new england) where people say stuff is too spicy because there is PEPPER in the dish.  Like, the pepper you have at your house.  I cooked a dish with pepper once and her mom wouldn't eat it for that reason.

Also the service was good, they actually called us because they were out of something we ordered and wanted to make sure they gave us a refund or something else.

Unless you are a monster two people can split one dish here, any dish. If you order more than one dish per two people left overs are a given.  Also, we drove around for an hour before we got home and the food was still warm.

I have no idea how those other people can say the portions are small. Unless youre godzilla or you only ordered an appetizer noodle, you will be full after your meal. I found this place off of tiktok and I’ve been in love ever since. I’ve taken my family and my gf here and they’re all in love as well. My gf is visiting again next week and she keeps asking when we are coming back here.

I recommend the 肉夹馍 (Chinese pork hamburger) and the 油泼三样Three toppings Spicy Noodle w/pepper oil.

I would recommend. If you get the dry bowl, wait a little for the belt noodles to soak in the sauces for a delicious savory meal.

味道不错,配菜分量也很足,连吃三天了
位置也还好找,一定要试一下肉夹馍

适合儿童:服务的大姐很亲切

Great  noodles and friendly service.  Took  a little while but worth the wait.

Came for the Liang pi, found great service and got a super delicious veggie burger!
