Hotpot Bay
1626 Taraval St, San Francisco, CA 94116

Reviews:

Fantastic hotpot addition to SF. High quality, fresh cuts, really generous portion. Love the individual hotpot's too. Worth the drive to Taraval.

Drove all the way from Baypoint to try this newly opened hotpot spot and I'm already planning my next visit
The environment is super clean and thoughtfully designed, which instantly makes you feel comfortable settling in for a long, cozy meal. The meat quality is excellent--fresh, tender, and clearly well-selected.
But the real highlights? Their homemade crispy meat is absolutely addictive--perfectly crunchy on the outside and juicy inside. And don't skip dessert: the coconut treat is something special, light, refreshing, and unlike anything I've had at a hotpot place before.
On top of that, the owner Jackie is incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even more special. You can really feel the care behind this place.
Wishing this new business great success and a long, thriving future--I'll definitely be coming back!

Great service. I liked their coconut pudding.

Hotpot Bay recently opened this year in the old Fiery Hotpot location on Taraval and has now become my favorite hot pot place in the Bay Area. From the outside, the place looks small, but as soon as you walk in, it’s actually pretty spacious. They have tables for both large and small parties. I like how each table has an additional cart for you to use to put more food on, which makes the table feel less crowded.
This is not an AYCE hot pot place, but more of a set menu or à la carte spot. They have a really good deal for their set menus, with two options for a 2-person combo. Option one is the Build-A-Bay Combo, which gives you a choice of two soups, two meats, two sides, and two noodle/rice options. Option two is the Meat-a-Bay Combo, which includes two soups, three meats, and two noodle/rice options. In my opinion, Option 2 (the Meat-a-Bay) is the best bang for your buck. They also have a sauce bar with a variety of sauces and snacks, like chicken feet, edamame, cucumber salad, and aiyu jelly.
Each combo also comes with a veggie plate, which includes cabbage, corn, winter melon, pumpkin, two different mushrooms, spinach, bamboo, broccoli, and tofu puffs. Their beancurd skin was actually our favorite because it was so silky, so I highly recommend it.
When it comes to the meat, we ended up getting the Wagyu beef boneless short ribs, the Australian Wagyu beef shoulder, and the lamb shoulder. All three were extremely tender and literally melt in your mouth. The cuts weren’t too thick, so they cooked in seconds. The portions for each plate of meat were huge—like double the size compared to other places. Even though we got three plates of meat, we still weren’t able to finish it.
We spoke to the owner, Jacky, and he said he did a lot of research on the meats before offering them. It sounded like it took him months to find the right meat and perfect the cuts. He also mentioned that the beancurd skin is one of the most popular veggie options and sometimes sells out. Overall, you can tell that the owner put a lot of dedication into this restaurant.
For dessert, we ordered the coconut pudding, which came in a real coconut. The pudding was very good, and I would recommend it if you’re a coconut fan. It was also perfect to have at the end of the meal since it helped cool us off. I love that they are open for both lunch and dinner, and during lunchtime, the combos are available at a cheaper price. They also came by with a raffle box where you have a chance to win something with a scratcher—Jacky told me that someone once won a Labubu!
I would have to say this is one of the best hot pot places in the Bay Area. The quality of the food was excellent, and the service was top-notch. I’ll definitely be back with more family and friends.

We had such a great experience at Hot Pot Bay in San Francisco. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made the whole night feel relaxed and enjoyable. The restaurant itself is very modern and clean, and everything from the tables to the overall setup felt well-maintained and comfortable.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The ingredients looked fresh, the meats were high quality, and everything tasted amazing. You can really tell they put care into both the flavors and the dining experience.
Overall, we had a really fun time and will definitely be back. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a clean, modern hot pot restaurant with great service and tasty f

Amazing service. The food was superb! From beginning to end it was a great experience. Great location, menu is extensive and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. We were greeted by Jacky, he was friendly and very attentive during the whole meal. We felt taken care of the entire time we dine. All and all a fantastic dinner. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, 10 out of 10!
I will definitely be coming back!
ALMOST forgot....the crispy PORK!! Make sure you get it :)

The coconut pudding is crazy good

Great hot pot place in San Francisco. The ingredients were fresh, the broths like Tom Yum and Miso were really flavorful, and I loved the sauce bar where you can make your own dipping sauce. I ordered the Build A Bay combo with Wagyu beef and vegetables and everything tasted great. I also got lucky and won fried crispy pork from the scratch card. Definitely recommend if you like hot pot
As someone who doesn't overindulge but also hates leaving hungry, hotpot can be hit or miss. That being said, I've never left HPB hungry. The combo for 2 is perfect for my partner and I, and you can select 3 plates of wagyu beef if you wanted to.
The meat quality is great, especially for the price ($78 for the combo, 3 dishes, as of 03-2026). The veggies and other side dishes are fresh and equally delicious. The green peppercorn and tomyum broths were our favorites. Their sauce bar also has everything you need, including some free rotating cold dishes, and even sweet brown sugar jelly to cool your palate after the meal. For their soft opening, they've also been gifting really delicious coconut jelly that comes in an entire coconut. It's a dessert worth trying, even if it's not free in the future. And the crispy pork appetizer is really really good.
Everything has been really clean on both of our visits and service is outstanding. The owner and servers are welcoming, accommodating, responsive, and overall create a great atmosphere for a comforting hotpot experience. Really nice people.
Ambiance is great. There's music, but it's not too loud, there are multiple TVs on the walls playing basketball games, and also aren't too loud. We were also a big fan of the warm lighting and comfy booths we usually sit at. It's a great place to be able to just sit and eat, or, to bring friends and be able to hear yourselves talk and have a conversation. Great vibes.
I really hope this place succeeds and stays around for a long time. Already a big fan of HPB! Come try them before they get too busy.

Had such an amazing experience at Hotpot Bay! The quality of the beef and other meats is seriously top-tier — super fresh, tender, and full of flavor. Everything we ordered tasted delicious, and you can really tell they use high-quality ingredients.
The customer service was also outstanding. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal.
And the best surprise — we won a big prize from their drawing… a huge Labubu! That totally made our night even more special and fun.
Great food, great service, and such a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend if you love good hot pot and premium beef. We’ll definitely be back! ????

Food is great and tasty. Stuffs are very nice and did not disturb us when we were eating and talking. We received free coconut pudding as it’s soft opening.

Newly opened hot pot place. We went around 7pm and while the area was quiet, the restaurant was full. Ordered the set for two — good value for SF. Fresh meat, lighter and not greasy. The crispy pork was great. Self-serve sauce bar, snacks available, and complimentary coconut jelly at the end. Would come back.

服务热情, 环境卫生,餐牌份量足,营养均衡健康,甜品也好吃,不会太甜,饱餐后解腻。

Fire hotpot

This place is amazing. My first time at a hot pot and I was guided on what to do and enjoyed every minute.

Really nice attentive service! The meat and vegetables are high quality and fresh. There is an excellent sauce bar with tons of options and extras. The coconut dessert is amazing. Great addition to the neighborhood!

Fantastic new restaurant! The food was all fresh and delicious! My new favorite hotpot spot in SF! Parking wasn’t bad and the service was excellent!

Fantastic food, service, and cleanliness! The meat was very marbled and tender — much fresher and higher quality than I’ve seen at other hot pot places. They also gave us a free coconut pudding as part of the opening promo, which was a perfect dessert

Ethan Lee 10/10 service! would come back 100%
