Reviews:

My family and I love the food here and it's our top choice of Chinese restaurant.

Recently they changed the chef and the way chef cook is not too oily and salty.

The staff are friendly and we have become friends over the years. The place has many tables and bar area.

Went on a Friday night for dinner and the restaurant is bright and clean. Service was fast and great. We had the beef tendon hot pot, Chinese Chicken salad, tofu with mushrooms and bokchoy, walnut shrimp. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the chicken salad which is so refreshing and tasty with poached chicken, onion, cilantro and jelly fish strips. We had fried chicken wings for appetizer and they brought us a complimentary house soup with bitter melon and little pork ribs. It was so good. For dessert we had the black jello which is a healthy herbal jello with an earthy herbal taste, which I liked. I'll definitely be going back to try their other dishes.

Great food and great service . Try their famous soy sauce chicken. We always order the family dinner that is the best value and quality. Their food has persistent quality.

Far East Cafe has been a popular Chinese food establishment, in the South Sacramento area, for over 40 years. I remember frequenting this restaurant when was a kid. It was good then, but especially good NOW.

The family heard that the restaurant hired a new cook, and we wanted to see, for ourselves, if there was a noticeable difference, either good or bad. In my opinion (of Chinese nationality) the change is definitely GOOD! The dishes possess generous portions, and are VERY tasty.

The service was excellent, as well! The dishes, that we ordered, came out Hot and Fast. The waitresses were both, Attentive and Friendly.

The Family came to this restaurant many times in the past, but we will be coming more often, especially now!

After hearing from friends that Far East brought on a popular Master Chef from the Sacto area, the fam decided to revisit our fave Chinese restaurant after being away for weeks. The new chef's touch was quite noticeable...flavorful and new items on the menu. The following were new items that came out hot and fresh...

Fook Keen fried vermicelli (better than competitor down the street)
Zucchini w/ground pork (veggies fresh)!

Old school w/noticeable improvements:

ngow nam clay pot (tender beef & tendons
w/fresh, perfectly cooked daikon
honey walnut prawns (shrimp had snap to It not overloaded with mayo
-pea sprouts w/garlic sauce (fresh & plenty)
soy sauce chicken; no improvement needed
~egg plant w/pork clay pot (cooked just right, not too mushy or oily like other places. Slight kick to it but nothing to cry about.
salt and pepper fish filets; tasty and not oily

There were other new items shown on the TV monitor (whole crab with DF pumpkin, two egg/fried scallop fried rice, and numerous other dishes we will try next time).

Service is always top notch here; Leslie and Lisa were attentive and friendly as always, along with the owner Susan. It's always a plus when she stops by not to just say "hi" but to also ask about family and such. You can tell she has a great rapport with customers (acknowledging each other and calling each other on a first name basis.

Love the cleanliness of the establishment, from floors to wall (considering the restaurant has been around for decades).

If you want a good old fashioned Chinese meal for lunch or dinner, family dinner or banquet for 100+, go visit the "new and improved" Far East if you haven't done so yet!

Been coming here for years but have heard they had a change in chef. Their servers have always been and continue to be friendly and efficient. Menu looks very similar with a few extra specials. Came in for lunch and got the congee meal that came with choice of veggie (gailan, lettuce, and a few others I forget), any congee, and any noodle option off their menu. Generous portion sizes for all dishes and the beef stew chow fun is my favorite. I noticed later they have a lunch special menu as well which we may try next time!

Delicious food with very decent portions on the daily lunch special including a bowl of soup.

The servers were super friendly.

The ambience is very suitable for family gatherings.

Foods is good and service great. Soy sauce chicken taste good. Restaurant nice and clean. Set comfortable, can host party.

The food is very delicious, dedicated service. We usually have lunch there, and often have parties for special days.

Great family owned independent restaurant! We have lived in the neighborhood a while and conveniently just moved down the street! My mom brought some over for lunch and since then I've got my dad to go and my in-laws! Huge portions! Everybody loves it, perfect for sharing. Lots of vegetables which is one of my favorite things about the place. So far I've tried the vegetable chow mein, vegetable fried rice, eggplant with garlic sauce, and soft tofu with vegetables. I recommend everything! I really like the tofu with vegetables, don't forget your protein! I'm lucky I live so close. If you're in the area, or if you're not, try it out! Friendly staff. Food is usually ready in about 15 minutes. Easy peasy!

One of my favorite restaurants in the town. I have heard they hired a new chef. Stop by to check it out. The food we had ordered was so tasty and yummy. And the service was very good and the server was extremely friendly. I really enjoyed my meal, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Foods are so delicious. Good service. They also have party room with karaoke. We will come again.

We reserved a private room for our banquet on Valentine's day. They were very accommodating and let us in early to decorate and set up the room. This room can accommodate up to 7-8 tables I believe. Service was quick, food was great, nice ambience. We especially love the house special chicken with soy sauce among many other great dishes. We stayed a little over their closing hour but they didn't rush us at all. Very nice experience!

Weekend dinner is always packed with people.

The food is great, the service is great and they have plastic plates for the kids.

Stopped here for lunch. Had the green bean & beef lunch special! So much food for a great price. The green beans were crisp and beef was tender. I appreciated the freshness of food!
Thank you, will be back!

Jook with century egg, Chinese broccoli, soy sauce chicken, and house special noodles with shrimp. All very delicious. It is a 3-dish meal deal and we added their famous soy sauce chicken dish. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento Area for Cantonese Style food. They just hired a well known chef in the area and the food is even better. Great place to have a quick lunch, family meal, a special celebration, or even book their private room for parties. They have added some dishes due to the new chef. Now I don't have to go all the way out to Florin area for some of these dishes. If you haven't visited Far East lately come out and give it a try again. If you are a regular you will enjoy trying the newly added dishes.

Excellent prices and yummy food! Fabulous restaurant Great selection. Wonderful service.

The Far East Cafe offers authentic, delicious Chinese food at a reasonable price. Portions are generous. Service is excellent-- knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. I often enjoy the fish congee-- a warm, comforting, thick, silky bowl of rice porridge with fresh white fish. My mom enjoys the soy sauce chicken and mapo tofu. My friend and I both enjoy the stir-fried vegetables and the eggplant and fish claypot dish. If you haven't tried this restaurant, you are missing out.

Far East Cafe has been around for YEARS. I have never had a bad meal here...always tasty and piping HOT.

I came for dinner after a quick 9 holes at William Land Park. It was early for dinner so they were not busy at all. I was told to sit anywhere . Menu and glass of water was immediately provided.

I ordered the West Lake beef soup and curry beef stew over rice. Like I mentioned earlier...tasty and nice n HOT. It was a lot of food for 1 person...next night's dinner

While enjoying my meal, noticed they do lots of to go orders

All in All a GREAT experience. Will be back.

BEST RESTAURANT EVER.
this restaurant is excellent, when ever i have had parties, i always take my friends there. and whenever i just have a group of friends, they ask me 'hey, what's that chinese place you take us to?'
i live and breath for their lemon chicken, it's got that crispiness that i'm so accustomed to and the delicious sauce that i can choose how much i want on my chicken.

their fried rice has changed the lives of my friends, they used to go to other restaurants and say 'they have the best fried rice ever!' then they tried far east's. and they just melted in the deliciousness.

i can't say it'd recommend them, i'd say i recommend NEVER GOING ANYWHERE ELSE AND JUST LIVING IN THEIR CAFE.

My family and I have been coming here for years now! Every time we come I enjoy the food and it never disappoints. I recommend to anyone looking to try a new restaurant. Our go to is the chow mein and fried rice!!

My friend introduced my family to this restaurant, and we¡¯ve been hooked ever since! They serve authentic and delicious Chinese food with rich flavors and traditional touches. My kids absolutely love the crispy flounder, and the Cantonese-style ¡®old fire soup¡¯ is incredibly flavorful. Their desserts are also a treat! The service is excellent¡ªwaiters and waitresses are friendly, attentive, and quick. A fantastic spot for an authentic Chinese dining experience!

My church just had a Valentine party at this place and it was AWESOME! The food was good and the service was great. The owner went out their way to serve us. They do have private room to host the party up to 70 people. The place supposed to close at 9:30PM but we extended until 10:30PM and they were willing to wait for us. Overall, the workers there are friendly and the service was great. Highly recommended to those who want to host a party. I will come back for sure.

Place has fast service, tasty food, and decent prices. The folks here are incredibly friendly too! Parking is usually good in front or on the side lot. Also, you may recognize some of the waiters from Regent restaurant which closed in the pocket area. Service is fast and friendly. Always great for either eat-in or take-home.

Good Chinese restaurant with big portion and affordable price, they offer free soup before dinner and even dessert before check.

They have delicious kau yuk. A lot of restaurants don't have this item. Really yummy!!

A must go restaurant in Sacramento! I¡¯ve been coming here since I was small and the food is always delicious. The people are also wonderful. It has great lunch specials, but I love dinner here too. I recommend the Beef and Tofu for a mild and delicious dish. The juuk (congee) is perfect for anyone with a cold too, so I recommend that highly (my favorite is with dried scallop).

They make the best Chinese food! If you are looking for the best salt and pepper. Pork, shrimp, my favorite is the salt and pepper white fish is the very best. Their little garlic gems are amazing.

Family style chinese food is the best way to enjoy Chinese food. This could feed five or six people plus dessert. Everything tasted really good. I always come here when I visit family. The fried chicken is amazing, always a plus.
