I came to try Amausaan with some friends after an evening of board games at Victory Point! We were surprised to see that it was still open at 11:00 PM.
The decor inside is really cute--the ambience itself makes for a wonderful date spot. There's a red gate and paper cherry blossoms, with a super cute bunny greeting you at the door. It has a warmer and cozier feel than its Telegraph competitor, Uji Time.
I tried the matcha cone. It had an authentic matcha flavor--not very sugary, but still creamy and vaguely sweet! The powder on top added to the strength of the tea taste. The black cones add a nice visual and some sweetness. My friends tried the black tea ice cream, which also had a pretty strong tea flavor. Really tasty and subtly sweet. I would say that you
I can't wait to come back and try the other desserts!
Update: Matcha cheesecake is SUPER small for the price (only around 4 inches long x 2.5 inches wide). and doesn't taste like cheesecake at all. Tasted like a jelly dessert. Matcha flavor is also almost nonexistent. The crust though tastes super yummy and reminds me of Oreos. I would definitely opt for other desserts over this one.

I came here during their soft opening. Finally a proper Asian matcha ice cream place in the Bay area. During the soft opening, there was a "buy one get one free soft serve" deal. The matcha tea flavored soft serve was intense in flavor with a little bit of sweetness. The black tea ice cream was refreshing and true to its black tea origin. Both are incredibly delicious!!! The waffle cone is crunchy but not as sweet as the ones in a traditional ice cream parlor. This rivals the matcha ice cream places in Hawaii and Japan.
We also had the chocolate millefeuille crepe. A bit too sweet for me. They didn't have the matcha millefeuille, which I probably would prefer more.
Nice ambience to just hang out with matcha ice tea. Super sweet waitresses working here.

Amausaan Uji Matcha FINALLY OPENED in Berkeley!!! Disclaimer, this is the first Amausaan Uji Matcha branch I've ever visited, so I can't compare this one to any others out there. But I do love anything with matcha, and I'm so happy it's here in Berkeley.
I tried to go before realizing it wasn't quite open yet. Who can blame me, especially since there's already an adorable bunny kimono-garbed statue standing at the doorway? Upon stepping in and being confused why no one was around, the nice gentleman who I think owns or manages the store told me it wasn't open yet told me the opening would be on June 15, Saturday.
Well, I'm back! I tried the Matcha Red Bean mille crepe cake, and it's absolutely delicious! The Uji Matcha soft serve in a black cone looks like a treat, and they have BOGO (buy one get one) during this opening weekend. It was just too cold today for that, so I didn't get any for today. With more hot days ahead of us this summer, there's so many cold treats here that I'm excited to try, including shaved ice. I'm going to be coming back here way more often, which is awfully tempting since I'm rather close by. May this place keep fulfilling my sugar cravings (a bad habit I'm trying to beat, but I guess I'll make an occasional exception for Amausaan Uji Matcha. Gotta support Asian dessert places in Berkeley!)

Came here during soft opening and tried their signature Black Tea and Matcha soft serve.
Overall a great experience!
The flavors were very rich and you can definitely taste the good ratio of tea and milk. I highly recommend the black tea one and the sprinkles they add onto the soft serve also makes it a lot more appetizing to eat.
The cone was VERY good! The blackness contrasts really well with the colors of the soft serve and very crunchy (personally huge fan of good cones). Reminds me of Ici cone but not as oily.
The atmosphere and interior design are very cute and welcoming. You will be greeted by the red shrine like thing similar to the one in Kyoto (Fushimi Inari shrine). The space is relatively small so on a busy day the space is not optimal for waiting.
Would definitely be coming once in a while because the price is $4.9 pretax so it's not super affordable. But the flavors were really on point and other items on the menu looked really good too.

This is one of my favorite dessert place. I tried the matcha soft cream and black tea (They have BOGO on first and second  opening day for these soft cream only).
The matcha cake is my favorite. I was gonna get matcha red bean crepe but they are not available. I tried the matcha cake crepes instead, loved it. It might bit pricey for the desserts and parfait, but the matcha flavor is original.
It's first day they open so service kind of slow, but understandable. I will be back.

This dessert place is amazing, there are lots of selections with Matcha green tea and a lot of interesting drinks on the menu.  Super friendly service, good prices and love the interior decoration here!

Only had the soft serve so far but it's great value for its price. Matcha ice cream tastes exactly like rich matcha, would highly recommend for my matcha lovers! I would point out that some items are similar to what is offered at Uji Time.

A little pricey, but the taste and the store interior definitely makes it worth. Perfect place for a date.

This place is amazing, all the desserts tasted good . I been to the store in clement, which is a Togo store. This store have dine in, which is very nice and neat

Stumbled upon this place after eating ramen down the street. The decor made me feel like we transported to Japan and the matcha soft serve was the best I've ever had! Apparently they just opened so they were out of a lot of their items on their menu but luckily the soft serve was so good that we didn't care! Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu! Friendly staff and overall great experience

Cool new dessert place, capitalizing on the uji
matcha craze. Great ambience and decor. Liked it more than Uji Time in South Berkeley. Open to midnight too, so a nice option for late night outings. Definitely coming back!
