Reviews:
I order food to go from this restaurant at least once a week. One of the few places in Ithaca that offers a no-meat Hot and Sour soup with tofu (bean curd). I love the traditionally nuanced flavor of Baby Bok Choy stir fry with rice. Since I am a vegetarian, I also enjoy Veg Mein Fun noodles and Tofu with garlic sauce.
Not the most exciting restaurant but the lunch menu is solid. Portions are mostly small but worth it during lunch. The place also has great eggrolls.
Great food and great service they also have good vegan/vegetarian options including kung po chicken scallion pancakes and general sals tofu which are all vegan.
Great food every time I eat there. Consistent quality and service. Will return over and over.
My entire family (except me) hate spicy food, so you'd think we'd have avoided this place just b/c of the name. I thought I'd give it a try and called to see if they could make some of the dishes without heat and they did. Everything was very tasty. We did take out so I can't speak to the ambiance, but the food was great.
This is a great place to get Sichuan food in Ithaca. I really enjoyed all their dishes. Their lamb was great. Their whole fish was very tender. I loved the egg drop soup. We had some dumplings in spicy sauce which was yummy. And the potato's in their stir-fried shredded potato dish was crispy and savory.
The service was good. We went during a weekend evening in the summer and the place was not busy. The service was prompt. Note: Not all of the staff speaks Mandarin. The first waitress we did spoke Mandarin but we had another person who served our table who did not.
The inside of the restaurant is like a typical Chinese restaurant. There is also plenty of tables and seating inside.
There is a parking lot outside the restaurant so we parked there. We did not have trouble finding parking (albeit we didn't go when it was very busy).
Mala Xiang gao is fire!
I am a delivery driver and just had a bizarre (never happened prior) Grubhub hiccup, which left me and the restaurant unsure how to proceed.... but with their patience and undeniable exceptional customer service, the food was remade in NO time and I was still able to complete my delivery! (Not to mention, the customer added another $10 to my tip! :-)) I will ABSOLUTELY be ordering from Spicy Asian next time I'm in the mood for take out.... top notch!
You gotta go here and try the General Tso¡¯s chicken!!!! It is sooooo good!
Spicy Asian is my favorite asian restaurant in Ithaca, a title the Golden Dragon vacated when it closed in 1994. S.A. features wide variety of styles, all well prepared.
Many dishes rely on an oily brown sauce that I've not run into elsewhere; it's good but, too much, not so much.
Unlike most upstate NY asian restaurants, the menu has many dishes that are not run-of-the-mill Chinese-American food. Yay! Even if you won't try them, you can see what they are by visiting other tables.
It's very much a family-run place and its nice to be recognized after you've eaten there a few times.
May I recommend: the "soups-for-4" make a great meal for one. Seafood soup and Zhong's dumplings: great combo. Noodle soup w/ pork and hot pepper is filling and great for a chilly day. The salt-and-pepper shrimp is a taste and tactile delight.
Visit frequently and work your way thru the menu. You'll be glad you did.
A fantastic spot for truly exceptional food at an even better price.
Great food, friendly service, and family atmosphere. Highly recommended for good Asian cuisine.
Spicy Asian catered dinner for my daughter¡¯s volleyball team and it was a huge hit!! Food was delicious and the customer service was amazing!
Food was amazing and servers were incredibly kind.
The food was really delicious, and they can adjust the spice level to your preference. The staff were friendly and humorous, making this a relaxing spot to enjoy a hot meal during your trip.
Just dropped off our daughter at college and we were hungry from all the lifting! We wanted something relatively healthy that wasn¡¯t too heavy. Spicy Asian was great! We got fried dumplings (ok, maybe not the healthiest) and were so delicious - it didn¡¯t taste oily and they might be homemade? My husband and I shared the chicken, beef and shrimp with broccoli in garlic sauce and it was amazing. I overheard the waitress tell another table that they make their own egg rolls, so had to try that! It was very tasty (I would have preferred some meat in it but it tasted very light-perfect amount of wrapper where some places have it too thick. Excited to take my daughter here when we come visit!
Excellent food, staff, and atmosphere.
This is probably the best Asian food I¡¯ve ever had & the wait staff is on point. Food is served hot!!
This is one of the best Chinese places in town. Hands down.
Amazing food and service.
As vegetarian can be the best dishes in town.
This restaurant is very close to the buttermilk falls state park, clean and spacious. reasonably price and the food taste is good!
Great vegan/vegetarian options.

Oh I love this restaurant - the food is so flavorful.
Incredible food.
Food was delicious! One of the best Chinese food places we¡¯ve had in Ithaca. It might not be a fancy place, but clean and spacious restaurant to enjoy your meal. Reasonably priced food.
Highly recommend the Dan Dan noodles. They are saucy and spicy.
Pretty authentic Chinese food.
