From their old location to their current spacious store, we've lost count of how many times we've visited, yet the food never fails to amaze us.
The Lanzhou hot lamb sandwich and spicy hotpot with potato noodles are our non-negotiables every single visit. Their lamb soup is so good we ordered two portions today. And don't skip the pickled radish or garlic; they pair beautifully with the lamb.
This is a tip-free restaurant, but the staff couldn't be friendlier, always circling around to check in and gather feedback. Oh, and they host live concerts from time to time. Great food AND live music — honestly, what more could you ask for?
Great food and great vibes! No complaints on service, though some things like plates and utensils are self-serve. I actually liked that aspect of it, though, as everything you could ask for was readily available. They even had toothpicks and chili oil readily available.
The lamb rice bowl is huge, honestly enough for two people. It’s the first time I’ve seen a rice bowl with more meat than rice. Definitely recommend it. The owner also kept checking in and asking everyone how they liked the food.

The lamb chops were rich yet not greasy, and the spicy fried potatoes were also quite good. The flatbread, however, was a bit too thick. As for the *liangpi* (cold noodles), after adding a touch of salt, vinegar, and chili oil to taste, it delivered exactly the flavor I was looking for. The lamb soup—once seasoned to my liking—was completely free of any gamey odor.

Aipapa is my monthly go-to spot. The cumin aroma when you walk in is everything.
What to order:
Lamb & Spicy Beef Burgers: Crispy buns, juicy meat, and huge portions. The lamb is a must!
Hand-Grabbed Mutton: Super tender and fresh, no gamey taste at all.
Shrimp Fried Noodles: Full of "wok-hei" and tastes just like a Chinese night market.
Gansu Malatang: Perfectly saucy and flavorful.
Shredded Potato Salad: The best crunchy, refreshing side.
Bonus: It’s a no-tipping restaurant with a great vibe (live bands on weekends!). Perfect for a casual family dinner.

3自取餐具台非常整洁干净。去过很多自助小料餐厅，很少见到能做到这么有秩序又清爽的。
4用餐环境更像一间安静的小酒吧，整体设计很有文化感。不论是墙上的照片，还是和客人的合影，都充满人情味和品牌温度。
5一口馍一口串，还能配上高品质的音乐。不管是驻唱还是乐器演奏，水准都在线，氛围感拉满。

This place is such a vibe! Great music playing, great good, and amazing portions! Love this place! I will definitely come again. Everyone in my family loves Aipapa! I recommend the lamb skewers, chicken pita burger, and beef over rice!

This is their new location! Much larger dining space and more items in the menu.
Food is amazing as usual. Get the lamb rice bowl. Excellent taste, portion, and price. I'm so happy they actually give you a normal person's serving of rice and not a communist bowl of rice and the charge you extra for more.

A perfect experience. First of all, the restaurant is clean and well organized. You can freely choose your seat without having to wait too long at the front desk. They also don’t require tips, which feels very reasonable given how tipping culture keeps getting more expensive. You do need to get your own utensils and takeout boxes, which is totally fine. The food was delicious—I highly recommend the beef rice bowl. It was so good that I didn’t even have time to take photos.
As someone from Lanzhou, I drove six hours from the Bay Area just to eat at Aipapa—and honestly, it tastes even more authentic than what I’ve had back home in Lanzhou! I couldn’t be happier ??
The food quality is incredibly consistent, which really shows how much care the owner puts into running the restaurant and maintaining strict quality control. I also have to mention the 4.9-star rating—I actually thought I saw it wrong at first! Most Chinese restaurants usually fall somewhere around 2.5–3 stars, but 4.9 is the highest I’ve ever seen. As a Lanzhou native, I feel so proud!
Another thing I really appreciate is that everything is self-service—utensils are available for you to grab, and there’s no tipping or service fee, which is so rare these days. They even offer a photo service—my service dog got featured on their wall today, which made me so happy!
I will definitely be coming back often—yes, even if it means driving six hours every time!
我土生土长兰州城关的，听闻这家兰州菜很久了，今天特地来试了下。来美国十多年基本都会在不同的城市去找自己家乡本地美食。今天就点了三样东西我觉得应该是目前我吃过的北美兰州菜天花板了。
烤羊肉：几乎和兰州一模一样。
油饼子：感觉上面的调料铺得有些厚但是不影响口感。
黄焖羊肉：除了羊肉本身有点硬以外其他都是满分，我不会因为这个扣太多分因为这是北美硬件问题总不能让老板去民勤进口羊肉。土豆粉和调料恰到好处。
总而言之兰州联手们可以闭眼冲。

Came here for Iftar, they treated us with delicious herbal tea, the atmosphere is very friendly, next time will try to come on weekends for nice music and delicious food, definitely recommend if looking for halal Chinese spot

Authentic food, great vibe, and no forced tip. The whole experience feels relaxed and genuine. Definitely a place I’d come back to.

Food is very flavorful, and the portion is huge. They also have Chinese live singing. 5 star !
Best HALAL restaurant ever! Love the lamb so much. The spicy pot tastes so good. The tea also made me feel not so heavy after all the carb eaten. The owner even knows playing instrument. Everything is self-served so tip is not required. Super fun dining experience.
