Chef Huang 北京烤鸭

Reviews:

Hands down the best Peking duck I've had in the U.S.! As someone from Beijing, I think the Peking duck here is the closest to the ones I've had in Beijing. I've tried several places in New York and the Bay Area, but nothing compares to the quality here.

The duck is incredibly juicy and crispy, with perfectly caramelized skin that shatters with each bite, revealing tender and savory meat underneath. The flavor and texture are so rich and satisfying. Each bite melts in your mouth.

The duck is served with delicate pancakes, fresh scallions, and a tangy-sweet hoisin sauce. The balance of crispy skin, succulent meat, and vibrant condiments creates a symphony of flavors that is both satisfying and addictive.

Whether you're a Peking duck aficionado or simply love great food, Chef Huang's is a must-visit spot for Peking duck. Savor each moment of a beautifully crafted meal that leaves a lasting impression.

Our family friend took us here for dinner - what a feast! It felt like it was chinese new year Everything tasted amazing - you can tell the quality is set to a high bar, and the chefs spend a lot of effort and time on each dish. The roast duck was perfect with real crepes (not the thick baos that other places give). The lobster and crab were perfect with lots of "wok hei." The beef brisket in the sesame pancake was SO tender! I think our friend ordered 12+ dishes and we enjoyed every single one. Perfect balance of flavor and texture. The staff were nice and quick as well. Private room was nicely decorated with couches on the side and a water cooler.

Definitely make a reservation- we ate dinner around 6pm, when we left at 8pm every table was taken. If you're looking for authentic chinese food in midtown, Chef Huang is a great place for a group. And please share your food, family style

Amazing find for authentic Chinese food in Kips Bay. We were looking for Peking Duck and found Chef Huang near us in Midtown and it was above expectations. The restaurant has a clean, modern ambiance and the waiters are some of the most attentive (kept checking in on us to see if we needed more wraps for the duck or vegetables.)

We ordered the lamb skewers, soy sauce shrimp, the half Peking Duck, and pea shoots with garlic. The lamb skewers were perfectly cooked and super juicy. Duck was definitely one of the best I've had in Manhattan. Skin crispy and the wraps were extremely thin as they should be. Will definitely return!

Food is amazing. We ordered chicken lo mein, won ton soup, and broccoli and beef. Comes with a yummy (& slightly spicy) salad. Delivery was quick, too!

If you are craving authentic peking duck - look no further! My kids also enjoyed this place because they brought a soap dispenser to the table that foamed out bubble soap which my kiddies had a ball washing their hands with. This place has a lot of potential because the food presentation is unique for an Asian restaurant. We ordered delishes skewers and it came on a mini grill. My som inhaled their scallion pancakes. If only they can renovate the bathroom and not use visible tape to hold their ceilings decor, they can become upscale. However, I did appreciate that it was more low key and they even put on cartoons for the kids. We ended with their very realistic looking puppy coffee ice cream. Will definitely come back to try their other dishes!

Simply the best Chinese restaurant in all of Manhattan. We loved Phoenix Garden until it closed. This is our new favorite. Chef makes food from different regions in China unlike any other chef in the area. Highly recommend the Peking Duck and hot and spicy shrimp balls. The duck soup that comes with the Peking Duck is a real delight. The manager, Summer, is warm and friendly and makes sure everyone has a good time. They have a very nice private room in the back for parties, which Summer decorates for you if you'd like. This is a must try restaurant!

It's my second time to visit this restaurant. In addition to their regular menu, they offer private menu which needs to be pre-ordered. For private menu, need to call the restaurant first for a discussion. This time, I had steamed fresh fish, steamed eggs with scallops, rojiamo(Chinese hamburger), and spicy eels. These 4 dishes are from private menu. I also had chef's special beef ribs with crispy crust, sauteed pea shoots, chef special crispy boneless chicken steak , and matcha layer cake from the regular menu. Every dish is yummy. The service is awesome. My family really had a good time during the meal. Definitely I will revisit this restaurant again!

This place is so good. I love Peking duck and their version is the tops. The beef and lamb skewers are a definite and both equally as delicious. The garlic cucumber is the perfect side

We were on vacation in the area so we stopped by for dinner. We really enjoyed our dinner here. We mainly came for the Peking Duck. That was delicious. It came with the thinner pancake rolls. We usually prefer the buns, but this was still good.
We also ordered the bear cub shaped ice cream. It was weird to eat it at first, but that was also delicious.

Delicious duck! Chef makes such delicate and beautiful dishes. Manager takes such great care of us that we come again and again. The private room in the back is perfect for around 10 people.

This is my absolutely favorite Peking Duck place! The Peking Duck meat is perfectly balanced with fatty part and the lean meat. Flavor is excellent! The service is outstanding, and met the wife of Chef Huang, she was lovely and kind. I highly recommend this place!! They have an extremely cute place for birthday celebration as well.

Food was excellent! Peking duck is definitely one of the best I have tried in the city, and we certainly ordered too many dishes just for two, even a whole duck, and we finished most of it! Unlimited duck soup is the best part, we both had three bowls each. So delicious! Highly recommend this place!

Love it! The whole duck order came with a bowl of tofu and seaweed (?) soup, and they gave the leftovers so you can make another dish (soup or fried rice) on your own.

The duck was tender & juicy, and skin was crispy (some) a flavorful. Definitely one of the best Peking ducks around.

It wasn't cheap though - the order of a whole duck, with ingredients, wraps etc. was $88 plus tips and fees delivered. We got our money's worth for sure.

Incredible food with an authentic yet contemporary regional Chinese inflection, exquisitely prepared and presented. Among the standouts are the succulent PEKING DUCK, BEEF RIBS WITH CRISPY CRUST (sort of an elevated pancake beef roll by way of beef Wellington), and BBQ LAMB KEBABS, but we were impressed with everything we tried, including several classic Shanghaiese appetizers/side dishes like SMOKED FISH, GLUTEN & MUSHROOMS, and VEG, BEAN CURD & EDAMAME. Even the humble SAUTEED NOODLES are a cut above! The discerning menu contains of many of our favorite Chinese dishes. Chef Huang's kitchen does it right!

My toddler was even given his own little wooden plate. Next time we come back, we must get the adorable animal ice cream dessert. So cute.

Went here with my wife and my daughter as well as her boyfriend and it was great. We love the Peking Duck and the presentation of everything. We were stuffed at the end. They tell you to wash your hands with the thing that I included that's in the video. It's super cool and something entertaining for the family while you wait for the food. The place is pretty small but cozy and nice. I forgot to take a picture of the Peking Duck but trust me it's probably one of the best I've had. Go here with some friends and family and give it a try!

Delish food, the Peking duck is amazing and prepared to perfection! They also make a great soup with the duck carcass. Lamb skewers are fab and food presentation is beautiful without being pretentious! Great service and the venue is just the right size. Not too big with enough space for good conversations with comfortable room to move. There is a main dining area and private rooms for larger family gatherings.

Food is great ! Didn't try the Peking duck, but will definitely try next time ! Beef was great other stuff was all delicious! Place is not fancy but very clean ! And service is great too! People are so friendly !

The food was very tasty. My boyfriend kept raving about how good the duck was. I'm unfortunately don't like duck, but he said it's one of the best he's had. The beef rib was definitely a surprise. I was not expecting it to come out looking like this. It was very tender and moist; the only con for me was that it was a bit salty. The skewers were amazing. Very well seasoned and very tender. The service was great and I would definitely go back whenever I'm visiting.

Came here with my dad during a trip to NYC and we were both super impressed with this small unassuming restaurant.

The restaurant was very clean and the staff were very amazing and attentive. We came around 3pm and only had a few other tables but we were still very impressed with the service.

The food was top notch, especially the Peking duck & skewers. If you order the whole Peking duck, they will give you duck soup and also the bones in case you want to use it to make soup/other things.

Overall I would definitely recommend to all and will come back next time I'm in NYC

Delicious food, lovely service.
Reading such good reviews of the food, have wanted to try this restaurant, especially the peking duck. Went in and ordered half a duck to go. Woman who helped me was very nice. Order included the sliced duck, sliced cucumber, slivered scallion (white part), sauce, beautifully thin and delicate crepes/pancakes, and duck soup. It was all delicious. Will definitely be back for take out and dine-in. Would have the duck again and look forward to trying other dishes on the menu.

Absolute hidden gem of Kips Bay, been coming here since 2022 -- food quality, service, and ambience has always been outstanding. Would strongly recommend for authentic, high quality northern Chinese food .

Excellent food especially the Peking duck which is my favorite. The ambiance is low key elegance and the service couldn't be better. This restaurant is a hidden gem. I eat out often and have dined in Michelin star restaurants and big name 5 star restaurants. Chef Huang can compete handily with these well known restaurants. I highly recommend Chef Huang. You will not be disappointed.

The Peking ducks are the best in New York. Tried the ducks in some other places, and definitely would recommend this restaurant. Other dishes are also excellent, tasty and delicious.

I really love the Peking Duck which is sooo authentic and crispy. Each dish is created by the chef and you can order customized items you want.

Been there more than 10 times. My favorite Chinese restaurant in midtown. Most authentic Peking roast duck in Manhattan. Wellington steak is amazing. Flounder in black pepper sauce succulent, and Shanghai green cabbage with garlic very savory. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

This is the absolute best Chinese restaurant in Murray Hill. The food is delicious, modern, exotic and impressive presentation. It is small yet the service is seamless and not hurried. With me was The Lady Home-Hamilton visiting from England. The ambiance is wonderful. No TV or music. It was a gastronomic pleasure. Beijing DuckFancy Hand SanitizersFancy Hand Sanitizers House Fried RiceMolds I recommend this restaurant and give them 5 stars.

Dinner for 2 on a Saturday night, service was great and food came out fast. Will come back with a larger group.

We ate here twice during our 3 days stay in New York and we love it both times. The food was excellent as well as the services. The pecking duck was very both time we had it. The service was very quick/ friendly. It felt like we were eating at family house not a restaurant.

Excellent Peking duck. Delicious Jasmine tea. Very interesting Shanghainese dishes. Highly recommended.

The service is fantastic. They have a rather compact menu as compared to many other Chinese restaurants and focus on the quality. We ordered half pecking duck and fried noodles. Both are exceptional. So glad to have this restaurant in the neighborhood, a definite go-to!

The Peking duck was outstanding. The best I've ever had. Great appetizers (boneless ribs) and side dishes (seafood fried rice) as well. Great service. Attentive and kind.

The Peking Duck was very very good. The restaurant is nice, quiet and clean. Service was fast and attentive. I recommend this place highly and will be back soon!

The best roast duck ever!

Every dishes is very yummy, especially the beef!

Definitely would come to here next time

Great food! It's so hard to find Chinese style raw crab in the city. I would highly recommend it, the dungeness crab, and the short rib. The interior decorating is nothing special but the food is banquets quality. Staff is friendly.

I had a great experience at this restaurant! The half pekking duck (10 pieces) and Sauted Pea Shoots with Slice Garlic were delicious. The price for the pekking duck was good and the tables were a bit close but that's expected in NYC. I would recommend making a reservation. Overall, I was satisfied with my meal and would definitely come back again!

Food was outstanding!! The Peking duck was the best I've had!! Everything right down to the fun animal shaped ice cream was top notch looking forward to going again!!

Food are beyond amazing - good quality and flavor. The special beef ribs are so tender and matches well with the crust -- it's like a Chinese food version of Beef Wellington. Will definitely visit again!

Small unassuming space with great presentation and flavors. Must have their Peking duck, lamb kebabs, drunken crab. Enjoyed everything with a few bottles of Riesling what went well with the dishes. Service was quick.
