Came here for dinner with my wife after randomly browsing through yelp in the afternoon. Little did we know they've just started a 3-month anniversary promotion and we were the first customers of the day and the generous owner gifted us free ice cream and a voucher for the next visit!
As for the food, the sour miao soup with offal was not too sour and had a nice tomato and lemon-grassy flavor. The offal was tender and perfectly cooked, and tasted even better when dipped in the smokey chili powder (tastes like chipotle). The liver and kidney stir fry was also perfectly cooked, not too gamey, and had a pleasant sweetness. The stir-fried achoy was sweet and garlicky. We had a great meal and the art lounge ambiance was perfect for a relaxing dinner. We'll definitely be back!
This Guizhou flavor restaurant, which is very rare in America, the food is really authentic nice tasting, and reminded me my home town. Really worse to try, highly recommended to my friends!

Every dish we tried was incredible, bursting with spice, tang, and that signature depth of flavor that comes from home-style cooking done right. You can really tell the recipes come from the heart, rooted in tradition but executed with precision. The Guizhou-style dishes especially stood out: unique, comforting, and packed with flavor that lingers in the best way.
The vibe is relaxed, the staff is super friendly, and the attention to detail makes you feel right at home. It's rare to find a spot that feels this special, where the food, service, and atmosphere all hit just right.
Hengry has easily become one of my go-to spots. Highly recommend bringing friends, ordering a spread, and diving into flavors you won't find anywhere else. A true standout in LA's food scene!

We ordered the eggplant with shrimp, mapo tofu, house fried rice and pot stickers. Everything was super delicious, the eggplant and shrimp was an absolute winner!

My husband and I ended up in Alhambra this afternoon, and decided to check out local eats in the area. We are so happy and grateful to have found Hengry. The storefront is deceiving, with one way glass. But when the proprietor, Leo, greeted us at the door, we were happily surprised to find ourselves in what felt like a very warm, inviting home of a very warm, inviting friend with excellent taste in pop art. Everything, from the plateware to the music to the furniture, was selected with a discerning, loving eye. We were so excited to be there and asked Leo to select dishes for us. (We highly recommend this route.)
He sent out one delicious dish after another, starting with a root called Fish Mint from Leo's home, Guizhou, China. Next was Crispy Pork with house made chili powder. Then stirfried Chinese celery with red chili peppers, and then a delicious fried rice with pork and pork belly. The pièce de résistance was the fermented tomato-based soup. We kept trying to decide which dish we liked best, and our favorite was whichever one we were eating.
Mike and I consider ourselves so so lucky that we found Leo's spot. Thanks for taking such good care of us. We can't wait to be back! Highly recommend!

The taste is very good, but for those who can't eat spicy food, they will stay for this plate of stir-fried lettuce all night. The potato cakes are also very sticky and fragrant. My friend said that the bullfrog in sour soup is delicious.
It feels that there are few Chinese restaurants in LA that are suitable for friends to get together and date. The environment of this restaurant, including the lighting and artwork, is very bistro-like. The private room is also very stylish, with a modern Chinese style, suitable for chatting and taking pictures.

Had the most incredible experience here!! You would never think this gorgeous restaurant is located inside the most unassuming building. Decor and ambience was very upscale yet cozy. Was very excited to try the dishes here as I have never had Guizhou cuisine. The owner took the time to explain the dishes to us and was so excited to learn that they were all his family recipes! Wait staff was extremely helpful and friendly! I enjoyed the variety of food options and portion sizes were great for sharing. My favorite dishes were the dumplings, house fried rice and pork with mustard greens. You also must try one of their sour miao soups which is large enough to serve an entire family! Thank you for the incredible experience!!
Really solid, Sichuan-like food. A good variety of spicy and nonspicy foods. Our kids really liked the mushroom plate and the dumplings.
The interior is really unique, artsy and upscale; a fun experience in addition to the food itself. Service is super friendly and professional; and bilingual!

Hengry was open about three months ago and might be the only Chinese Guizhou cuisine in Los Angeles.
The wine glassware is top quality you do not usually see in most Chinese restaurants.
The ambience is excellent, you can order each dish via tablet or waiters.
The restaurant offers a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, suitable for both small gatherings and larger groups. Food was great and unique in itself. Hidden gem with great music and vibes.

Very good food and service. This is my first introduction to guizhou food, but the waiters were very helpful in explaining and helping us to order. Particularly loved the sour soup fish and the clams.

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic! The food is incredibly delicious and authentic. The service is also excellent—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The fried glutinous rice cake is especially impressive—definitely a must-try! The crispy exterior and soft, chewy inside, combined with the perfect balance of sweetness, made it an unforgettable dish. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience!
