We had a great dining experience. My very picky eater toddler felt right at home and ate a full plate of his liking and the appetizer wings without hesitation. My husband has Mao’s pork belly and enjoyed how well marinated the pork belly was while also being on the crispier side. The Schizuan flat noodles were delicious! Add shrimp.
ITS SO GOOD
Food is great. I had pork belly and flat noodle.
I’ve been to Bao Kitchen several times, mostly for takeout after my kids’ evening activities, and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots. Finding authentic Chinese food in this area can be challenging, but Bao Kitchen consistently delivers.
On my most recent visit, I had the chance to meet the owner, who was incredibly kind and lovely to chat with. The hospitality made an already great experience even better.
This time I ordered the soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and BBQ buns, and every item was absolutely delicious. The soup dumplings are always a favorite, and the BBQ buns paired perfectly with their amazing house made chili oil… seriously, don’t skip the chili oil!
Over previous visits, I’ve also enjoyed the shredded pork with bean curd, braised pork belly, and boiled sliced fish in spicy chili. Everything I’ve tried has been flavorful, authentic, and clearly made with care.
I also decided to grab a Yeshu coconut milk drink from the fridge this visit, and I’m so glad I did. I loved it and may need to take a few home next time!
I’m looking forward to stopping in again and working my way through the rest of the menu. If you’re looking for authentic Chinese cuisine in the area, Bao Kitchen is absolutely worth a visit.
Best Chinese food I’ve had in years, and reasonable prices.
Very good food . And is near me
I recently popped in after running some errands in the area. I had never tried this restaurant and was curious. There's not a lot of good Chinese food restaurants around. We were greeted by a very friendly host and told her we wanted to order something to go. She showed us a menu and the prices were very reasonable. A gentleman came out of the back room and began to chat with us. My husband and I sipped on a Scorpion bowl, while waiting for the food. What a delicious drink! We chatted with the staff for a while and met the owner. She was really nice as well. When my husband and I tried their food, we were pleasantly surprised. Not oily and full of flavor. Next time, we'll eat there!
My husband and I lived in Beijing for 3 months. We're always looking for authentic Chinese food and this place nailed it. The service was exceptional--helpful, kind, and welcoming. The food is AMAZING! Fresh, true to Chinese flavors, and just generally delicious. Try the pork buns, soup dumplings, and fried rice. Not like your typical American Chinese food. 100x better! Ask for recommendations--we tried the spicy boiled beef and shredded pork Beijing style and we're not disappointed. Soooo good!!!
The food is excellent. The service is excellent, and the food is authentic freshly made. The bar is open and the staff is pleasant. Looking forward to going back.
This is a great hidden gem in the Wakefield area. Have ordered food from them multiple times, and haven’t had anything but amazing service, great price and delicious food! I hope more and more people give them a try, because they deserve the praise.
Delicious Sichuan food! Was craving spicy smashed cucumbers, cumin lamb, Dan Dan noodles and stir fried string beans and Bao’s kitchen did not disappoint! Huge servings, served piping hot and quickly and service was great.
Incredible food. Surprised there are not more people here. Very much authentic and high quality
Great food and service. Everything I’ve ordered has been delicious. Can’t recommend Bao’s enough.
Absolutely amazing. First time trying this place after only ever settling for our local Chinese place ( we love them for greasy Chinese quick, but yanno).
We got the dandan noodles, stir fried beef with hot peppers, boa buns, soup dumplings, and hot and sour soup.
I would post pictures but we actually ate it all within an hour of getting home.
Can’t wait to try again!!!
Awesome food and awesome service! Ben is a fantastic bartender, and the spicy boiled fish is delicious. One of the best meals we’ve had in Wakefield and on the north shore!
Stopped by to eat as I was craving braised Chinese pork. The braised pork was delicious! It has the proper proportion of meat the fat and not greasy at all! I also had their jelly noodles which was very refreshing. Portion is about right for the price. Finally a delicious authentic Chinese restaurant on the north shore!
Absolutely phenomenal food. Full of flavor and great portions. Probably the best in the area. I just wish they had single serving combos like other restaurants. I work in the area so it would be nice to get a quick takeout dinner for like $16 after work instead of 2 sharing boxes for $30
This place is fantastic. The food is amazing! It’s very authentic, but there are plenty of good options for the American palate as well. Their cumin lamb is well-spiced and so tasty. The stir-fried pork and green chilies is perfect, with springy chilies, tender pork, and some pickled chili peppers on it. I also had a little bit of fish that was deep-fried before being braised in a black bean sauce, which was also delicious.
Portions are huge (plates are very large) and filling, for a very reasonable price. They’re very friendly, and the service is phenomenal — I was given a small portion of braised fish on the house, and had a lovely conversation about the death of Chinese dialects. Will definitely be back every time I’ll be in the area!
Authentic flavorful dishes and their prices are great. It’s hard to find a place that serves authentic Chinese food like they do.
Excellent food, some of the best Chinese cuisine in MA.
The food at Bao’s Kitchen was absolutely delicious! Everything we ate tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The staff was super attentive, and the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming—it really made the whole experience special. Yin, the owner, greeted us personally with great energy and friendly conversation, which made us feel right at home. Definitely the best we have tasted in the area. We highly recommend Bao’s Kitchen and will definitely be back very soon!
Great food and lots of authentic flavors
I saw recommendation on Facebook and want to give it a try. From outside, it looks like a small take out place. But once we stepped inside, it is surprising a good size, clean and neat. The food is very good. We ordered the sweet and sour soup first. Every time we try a new place, we always see how good this soup is. Their soup is not too thick not too thin with good amount of ingredients. We also ordered salt and pepper fish, black mushroom salad, spicy chicken, mao's pork belly, string beans, and lotus roots. Pretty good. Definitely we will be back.
This place is so good and authentic. Been here multiple times and have loved it every time. I’m typing this from the dining room after another great meal. Cumin beef is amazing, all of their soups are good, good options for adventurous eaters and those interested in classic American/szechuan fare. Try it, you won’t regret it!
The food was so delicious! This is authentic Hunan cuisine and we really enjoyed all the food we got. The spicy green beans, gong bao chicken and tofu, general Tso’s chicken, scallion pancakes, and bbq pork buns were all delicious. Lots of food to split among four people. Check this place out! We can’t wait to go back!
Food was authentic and delicious, The host was so helpful. Great place??
I went here tonight with my wife and had a great meal. It was her first time trying authentic Chinese food and the host was extremely friendly and helpful. There was a good selection of dishes from all over China and they have a full bar. Definitely going back!
I like the delicious food and appreciate the good service!
This place brings out an exquisite Chinese flavor, the food is spicy and crafted delicatley with flavor. You can dine in, or have Uber or Doordash bring the food to you. I would recommend this place to everyone if you want a old fashioned Chinese taste.
一年前从波士顿搬到了Beverly,很幸运的发现了这家中餐。非常的正宗!之前名字叫Sei Bar, 后来改成了Bao’s Kitchen.
我觉得这家中餐厅绝对是被低估的。如果想吃正宗的中餐,绝对值得过来尝试下。
