Reviews:

The food was delicious! Especially the eggplant. Nice blend of American and traditional style. We ended up with the meal they recommended because they had a bit of trouble understanding us. But don't let that discourage you. Our food was fresh, hot and delicious. Like a homemade meal. Don't skip out on this hidden gem.

Hands down my new favorite Chinese/cantonese restaurant. I ordered sesame chicken and fried veg rice and I couldn't decide which I liked more. You can always tell a good Chinese restaurant by its fried rice. If you beside ur self on which place to choose come here you won't be disappointed:)

It's a very relaxing and open environment plenty of room to stretch your legs. And the service was excellent and food came quick.

Picked up their cumin lamb and garlic eggplant. Excellent Chinese food, generous portions. Ready when promised. Will go again Restaurant atmosphere seemed pleasant.

Unbelievably fresh, delicious and flavorful Chinese food.
Had all vegetables and they were amazing and cooked perfectly

Wife is from northern China and this is her go to spot. It's authentic and really good. It specializes in northern Chinese cuisine which is sadly too rare. It seems like every athletic restaurant is Szechuan cuisine now (which I do love) but there are so many more Chinese cuisines. Don't be fooled by the healthy relaxing center exterior. The best and most authentic Chinese food is inside.

Skip the fast food and support your local Chinese spot! This little hole in the wall local Chinese restaurant has a name that will throw you off, Massive portions, and excellent service! We felt transported to the culture by delicious Tso's chicken, egg drop soup and shrimp and tofu soup.

Be mindful when you get into the plaza that the entrance to the restaurant is a little hard to see, look for their sign in the window! The service was excellent and we will most definitely be back again! We had to box everything up because we were only able to get through half the platters. SUPER GOOD!

First time here; if I hadn't known for sure that the restaurant was tucked into the "Relaxing Healthy Center" at the north end of the strip mall, I might have missed it. (I have not asked what services are offered at Relaxing Healthy Center.) The obscure location is part of what I consider the perfect ambiance for a great Chinese restaurant. They put their resources to the food, not a swanky address or fancy decor.

Everything was delicious! Our party of five (three adults, two kids) started with potstickers--a.k.a. fried dumplings--at the request of my grandson. I didn't get one, but they looked good. Other dishes included House Spicy Beef (Shui jiu niu rou), Spicy Pepper Chicken, Triple Vegetables, and Cumin Lamb. Portions were generous and everything came to the table piping hot, fresh out of the wok.

The Cumin Lamb was the best I've had in town--better than Grand Szechuan in my opinion--a generous amount of lamb combined with cilantro and shreds of red onion, definitely not "saucy" but not overly dry as it can sometimes be. I thought the House Spicy Beef was a little less of a hit, but still very good. Often this chicken dish (it also appears on menus as Chongqing Spicy Chicken) is light on chicken and heavy on the peppers, which you can't really eat...but Northern Kitchen's version was super-flavorful and had enough to keep us all happy. Triple vegetables is essentially the same as the Eggplant in Garlic Sauce that's on the menu, but uses eggplant, potatoes, and jalape?os. It was also good, but I give the edge to Grand Szechuan for the flavor of the sauce.

Service was prompt and really friendly. Our waiter made sure we were comfortable and checked in with us a few times during the meal, and the proprietress came out and chatted with us for about five minutes when we were done. I will be back, eager to try some of the dishes I couldn't get to this time.

People say the portion sizes have been getting smaller, and to them, I say "you cannot expect gigantic portions for such a cheap price." The portions here were perfect for my wife, myself, and 2 year old. Had a little bit of leftovers for the next day. I recommend the fried rice, orange chicken, and general tsaos. It's a mom and pop shop with just the husband and wife, so service can be a little slow depending on how busy they get, so be patient.

Authentic Chinese cuisine at a very affordable price. We have visited this place many times, and the staff has always been very friendly to us. Highly recommended.

Authentic Northern Chinese cuisine! If you prefer American-Chinese food, this might not be for you, as the flavors are quite different!

Amazing hole in the wall Chinese restaurant focusing on northern Chinese food. My favorites are "fried pork in scoop" and "dry chicken in a pot". The eggplant is very good too. The names of the dishes may seem odd, but they're really good! I often ask the server for a recommendation and he always has good suggestions.

Short review. I never review. Travel for work. Eat take out constantly. Got fried rice and Kong Pao Chicken. Hands down the best I've had for either, in regards to takeout. 10/10 would recommend.

On a Saturday at 11:30 am, we arrived at the restaurant and found that we had the entire place to ourselves. The interior was spacious and bright, with plenty of natural light. Our server was friendly and helpful, answering all my questions about the menu. We ordered dumplings, kung pao chicken, shrimp fried rice, and beef fried noodles (lo mein). Every dish was fantastic! Unlike most Chinese food that can make you feel heavy and bloated, the flavors were light and delicious. We were impressed with the quality of the food; the shrimp fried rice had large, fresh shrimp, and lo mein noodles were cooked perfectly. I know this place is a hit or miss from previous reviews but give it a chance yourself. We highly recommend this restaurant to friends and family and will definitely be returning. We hope that it will be around for many years to come!

AMAZING place! Been here several times and have tried something new each time, and whatever I order has always been delicious. The staff are very nice and give great recommendations! Try something new here, you won’t be disappointed. Hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant.

I had many dine-in experiences, service was very good. today is my first time ordered for taking out, they gave us a decent amount of food.

There was this pork dish that my friend got which tasted amazing. Family style served. Staff was friendly.???

Delicious and fresh Sichuan food at the right price! Spicey and savory, the staff is always super friendly!! Will def be back, one of my go to Sichuan spot.

Have been here 10+ times and it's super tasty every time. Owners and waiters are very kind to us, and I have always had a great experience. ??  ????

加油!

We went there today with our friends! The food are so delicious and authentic! The employee was so nice and patient! And the whole restaurant is very nice and clean!

Mouth watering Asian food!  I was treated royally. More people should eat here!

Kung pow shrimp and the eggplant entree were great. They called to clarify an order to get it right, greatly appreciated.

In town for MOA, didn’t realize they close at 7 on Tuesdays! Northern Kitchen to the rescue- super yummy, authentic Sichuan food and a very friendly staff. Would definitely come back! We tried the cumin lamb (delicious), spicy house beef (almost a soup and very spicy but delicious!), hot & sour soup (perfect spice profile and basically comfort food), spicy chicken fried noodles, kung pao shrimp, and dry pot cauliflower. All were wins! Be aware, when we were here we almost couldn’t find it- the marquee above reads, “Relaxing Healthy Center.”

Great food, Wonderful service. Meal was ready quickly.

An absolute gem for anyone loving Northern/Northeastern Chinese food. Extremely authentic and delicious! Great portion for the price, the several dishes we ordered were fresh and tasted great. Place is clean, well-lit with a chilling vibe, and the owner was super nice!

Best pork I have ever had. No exaggeration.

Thank you for the wonderful meal and service.

delicious and the service was very kind and attentive. We would recommend.

This place is so f**king good and authentic what a hidden hole in the wall gem. Amazing food

Chinese Sichuan cuisine,my favorite
爱吃辣的必须来尝尝,特别美味!

I just ate there tonight. Excellent food and friendly staff (family). Hot and sour soup and crispy glazed shrimp were fire! Give this place your business and you wont regret it.

I’ve tried about 8 dishes at this point. This is a decent restaurant that with a focus on northern Chinese cuisine.

An excellent addition to Asian food scene in the Bloomington area. We stopped for Sunday lunch. Judging from what I see on the Internet it used to be called Ping's Bistro but now Northern Kitchen. The décor is modern casual, clean and looks Well maintained. The staff was very friendly and attentive And we felt very well attended to. The food was excellent. Each dish was absolutely delicious, yet unique in some way compared to other restaurants In the area.We had hot sour soup that appears to be vegetarian and was silky with a hint of pepperiness. We specified just a little spicy and the heat level of everything was perfect for us. We also tried the Kung pao chicken  a light sauce with dried peppers.  The eggplant in garlic sauce was also excellent. The eggplant was spiral cut, cooked in a delicious red miso based sauce with a touch of Chilli oil and Spring onion. We judge a local place like this on the food, which is definitely worthy of 5 stars.

I just want to say the bf can prove how much I love this place! Their duck neck literally brought me back to my childhood. Yes, I do eat duck neck when I was young. This is a fairly new authentic Chinese restaurant and they probably still need a lot of time training with their staff. Mess up order happens but do give them a 2nd chance.

Unique Asian fusion cuisine at the same time authentic with the flavor… the business selects local source for their ingredients, big plus!
