Reviews:

This place was amazing. The food tasted authentic and spicy. If you want Sichuan food then this place is a good spot. It's comparable to Sichuan mountain house!
The vibes of this restaurant is elegant and classy. They have private dinner rooms!!! Reminds me of China. If you walk further down, they even have large booth tables for parties. They looked super comfortable too.
Service was fast and everybody was nice. We dropped our chopsticks and they immediately came out with new ones for us.
Would highly recommend!!

Chi Restaurant & Bar on Ninth Avenue (next door to Tavola) is a great addition to the Hell's Kitchen culinary scene (my grandmother who was born and raised in Hell's Kitchen would be mystified by the mere existence of a culinary scene in her old hood, but times have changed). Chi Restaurant & Bar is putting out superb food and drinks. Their menu is extensive with dim sum, regional favorites and Chinese American classics. There is also an extensive noodle and rice menu. Brunch is coming soon and we cannot wait.

I was a bit skeptical just looking at their menu as it's readily apparent that they've been, ahem, heavily inspired by the menus of current top Manhattan Chinese restaurants like Uluh and Szechuan Mountain House (as in there are several identical dishes).
That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by how well they executed everything. The twice-cooked pork and crispy spicy beef were both delicious (though next time I would probably still still prefer the classic Chongqing dried fried chicken). The star of the night was actually a simple vegetable dish - eggplant with string beans, which was just perfectly wokked and bursting with flavor. Chi also has some great renditions of delicacies rarely found at any other Chinese restaurants, like the sweet sticky rice-stuffed lotus root.
Oh, and they have stunning decor and Hitachino on draft, too!

I came here for dinner on Thursday night and I loved this place so much. They have a great happy hour menu, but one get one free and it has to be the same drink. So we ordered three different drinks, my favorite drinks were the margarita and there was another one with honey which was delicious. For the food we had the ribs which were really good and the pork soups dumpling. We wanted to try the truffle soup dumplings but they did not have it. Then we ordered the Dan Dan noodles which weee really good, house special fried rice and a beef dish which was very delicious. For dessert we had a fried dough which was the perfect ending to a delicious meal. So the soup dumplings were flavorful, had a good amount of filling and the thinned was the perfect. Next the fried rice was really good, flavorful and not greasy. The Dan Dan were really good, the peanut flavor did not overpower them and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Next the beef dish was very good and it has peppers, potatoes and lotus flowers. I really enjoyed this dish. The flavors and the lotus flowers in it gave a great texture. The last dish was the dessert and I must it was so good. It was little friend dough with a dipping sauce of condensed milk. This restaurant is so delicious and I will definitely be back. Also the service was amazing everything came out fresh and hot. I love when the temperature of the food is right. Vincent was awesome and very helpful and friendly, all his recommendations were perfect for us. The place is beautiful and the silverware is also very nice. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I liked the plating of the food. It is quite large and can accommodate many people.

I recently stumbled upon Chi Restaurant through Resy's newsletter, and as I perused their menu, I knew I had to make a visit. I'm always intrigued by Asian restaurants that are willing to elevate traditional flavors and combine them with a good bar program. So, trying out Chi was both research and pleasure for me.
Located in Hell's Kitchen, New York City, Chi Æå (which means chess in Chinese) is a newly opened restaurant that fully incorporates its theme in the decorations and menu. Chinese idioms related to chess are cleverly used on the menu, adding another layer of fun to the dining experience.
Despite it being our third lunch outing, we decided to order quite a few dishes to try. We started with the ½«ÏàºÍ, a cold appetizer trio consisting of poached chicken in chili sauce, duck in green vine pepper oil, and cucumber salad. The appetizers were well-prepared with just the right amount of spiciness and flavors, leaving us eager for more. We then moved on to the ×̲¹ÌÀ, a chicken and pork rib soup with ginseng that had a light and delicious broth with a hint of herb from the ginseng. It was quite enjoyable.
Next up, we tried the ½ð×ÖËþµÄÃØÃÜ, a steamed pork belly dish that was shaped like a pagoda and stuffed with preserved cabbage and castelvetrano olives (although it's no longer on the menu). The dish was prepared traditionally, and I found it to be quite satisfying. We also had the ¸É¹øźƬ, a wok-tossed lotus root with pork belly, and the Ï̵°»Æ°×Óñ¹½, saut¨¦ed mushrooms with preserved egg yolk. The lotus root and pork belly were a perfect combination, and I thoroughly enjoyed the savory flavor of the saut¨¦ed mushrooms with the preserved egg yolk.
My friend ordered the SzeChuan vesper to go with her meal, which consisted of vodka and gin, rice and lillet, five spice chili oil, citrus, and castelvetrano olives. It was a delicious cocktail that complemented her meal perfectly.
Overall, our dining experience at Chi was a success, and we truly enjoyed the flavors, presentation, and ambiance of the restaurant.

One of the most amazing dining experiences I had in NYC. Came here for my friend's celebration dinner, and it's really nice that they had private rooms. We were well greeted by the staff and chef, and every dish we were served was a signature dish and introduced by the owner himself. The Sichuan spice and peppercorns infused the dishes with an extraordinary burst of flavor. Among the many delectable offerings, the beef satay, sichuan mala fish, and lobster stir fry noodles stood out as the most unforgettable and flavorful dishes. The mala fish came as a whole instead of fillet slices, and the fish tasted clearly fresh and came with quite a few vegetables and vermicelli. I would definetly come back for a delightful experience!

I sat at the bar & the staff was so friendly. I ordered a few items the host & bartender recommended. Starting with the wonton soup. The. Moved in to the Crispy shredded sesame beef & the scallion pancakes. The portions are great for sharing & i Honestly wasn't that hungry but I ate nearly all of the food on the plate. The dessert was a simple Vanilla Bean Sorbet but was so delicious. I will def be back!

I'm from California and I took my daughter and 2  friends to this restaurant. Everyone says you have to try the Chinese cuisine. So after arriving we found this place and they did not disappoint . You will definitely have to Asia experience. I highly recommend this place.

This was probably the best Chinese food I've had in a while. We met the chef and restaurant owner, who explained the history and inspiration for each of the dishes. The dishes remind me of home and of the exquisite spices and flavors that my mom used in traditional dishes. Chi elevates this comfortable feeling to craft beautiful and creative dishes that are as tasty as they are delightful. The seafood stir fry and the spicy cucumber are the most memorable and tasty; it's a must for anyone who is eating here for the first time. I would come back!

I came here on a Sunday nursing a violent hangover. I had already gotten a sweat in the steam room to try to mitigate it, but it did absolutely nootin.
The Anthony Bourdain quote about how to beat a hangover popped into my head.
"Aspirin, cold Coca Cola, smoke a joint, eat some spicy Szechuan food."
I skipped the aspirin and coke, but looked up Szechuan places in the area of a store I wanted to pop into and found this place.
I walked in and was immediately struck by the peaceful interior.
I sat down and was handed a menu. An internal debate ensued:
There was a section of the menu for "Authentic Szechuan" food and another for "American Chinese" food. I had come here in the spirit of the Bourdain quote, so I had to get something from the Authentic Szechuan part of the menu. But everything that actually sounded good was on the American Chinese portion of the menu.
"I really just want to get fried rice and some spicy noodles, but then I would be a fraud. I'll just get something from the authentic portion, but honestly what if I don't like it then I just wasted money and am not staying true to myself..."
At this point the waiter came up for the 2nd time and asked if I was ready. I couldn't tell him I need more time again smh.
I scrambled and ended up settling on the Dan Dan Noodles and the Wok seared Cauliflower w/ pork belly. One from each section of the menu. Pressure makes diamonds but it also busts pipes. Today I was a diamond.
Both dishes were fantastic and it is very much an authentic Szechuan experience.
Catch me here at least one Sunday a quarter going to war with a hangover!!

Came back here several times and continue to love it. Especially love the soup dumplings, Dan Dan noodles, tofu skin threads, and steamed fish fillets with ginger. They finally got their liquor license so they now have a drinks menu, which I'm looking forward to trying!

Excellent, experienced service, and I adore their ambiance.
I enjoyed my dining experience at Chi Restaurant & Bar and highly recommend it!

Really tasty, authentic Chinese food. This place just opened in our neighborhood and we decided to check it out for lunch. The interior is very classy and modern. We ordered the water spinach, veg mapo tofu, and boiled fish with green chili. All three were so delicious with the right amount of heat. The water spinach was cooked perfectly, not too soft. With the mapo tofu, a server came by with a mala peppercorn grinder to dispense the desired amount. The boiled fish was tender (we got the flounder) with nice additions of wood ear mushroom, tofu skin, and shirataki noodle knots.
They also serve alcohol. Would def come again.

Ohhh this place is tasty and the ambiance is great too. The veggie things we had were excellent-- mung bean jelly noodles, cucumbers in the Mala trio, salt and pepper tofu (perfect fry coating and creamy interior), eggplant and string beans. The meat eaters loved the beef tendon chips with caviar, Mala stuff, pork belly, chongqing chicken (tho a bit much mining in the chilis for the chicken pieces). Perfect spot for any reason but especially for pre- Broadway theater show dinner (with added happy hour bonus). Highly recommend and can't wait to go back. Thanks!

We went here after a different restaurant couldn't seat 6 people.  The food was amazing and the service was quick.  We had vegetable dumplings which were so fresh and delicious. The chicken fried rices was great and enough to split with 2 people.  The fried noodles with chicken has a great sauce and yummy vegetables.  Great authentic Chinese food with really nice chop sticks and great service.

Excellent food, well presented
Ambience is an added Bonus
